Bacteria Make Art

These stunning images are not actually photographs, they're what the creator calls Bacteriograms. Using some of the same techniques microbiologists use to grow bacteria in laboratories, Erno-Erik Raitanen collected bacteria from his own body and allowed the little bugs to grow on film negatives. After a few days he would take the bacteria off of the film and create pictures from the film. The resulting images trace the chemical history of the bacterial colonies and are pretty amazing. This is a very innovative idea and the results turned out fantastic.
